House Committee Okays Guns On Church Grounds

JACKSON, MS (WCBI) – It’s becoming more frequent that while people are praying inside, burglars are preying on  cars outside.  That’s led some congregations to put together parking lot patrols and now those patrols can be packing.
A Mississippi House committee Thursday passed the Church Protection act.  That would allow church members who have carry permits and have passed certified gun safety courses to carry weapons while patrolling church grounds.  The proposed law also allows certified members of church patrols to use that as a defense in case they have to use force as part of their security patrol.
