Houston Warms Residents with Free Coats

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — With cold temperatures on the way, a group in Houston is making sure folks stay warm this winter.

The New Hope United Methodist Church hosted their second annual coat and sweater drive.

The free items were available to anyone no matter their background.

Coats for children, women and men were donated by people throughout the community.

One charity organizer says this event shows the true need in the community.

“There are people out there that are in need and people just don’t realize you know sometimes people are in need and most won’t come forward and say that they need but when you do stuff like this they just walk through,” says Betty Buchanan.

The drive will continue every Saturday through the month of November.

If you would like to donate coats or learn more about how to receive free items contact Betty at 662-542-7634.
