Houston WIN Job Center Offering Skills Classes

HOUSTON, Miss. Registration is underway for classes in keyboarding/typing, basic computer, introduction to the iPad and introduction to word processing (Microsoft Word 2013) at the Houston WIN Center.

Keyboarding/typing will meet from 9 a.m.-noon, Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 and Nov. 2 and 3. Highlights include parts of the keyboard and their function, parts and use of the mouse, alphabetic keyboard, keyboarding techniques and speed and accuracy practice. No computer experience is necessary. Cost for the entire class is $5.

The basic computer class will meet from 5-8 p.m., Oct. 22 and 29 and Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 23. Highlights include Windows 7; creating files and folders; cut, copy and paste; email and Internet. No computer experience is necessary for the class. Cost for the entire class is $5.

Introduction to the iPad, which is designed to familiarize users with its features, includes settings, navigation functions, email, Safari, camera and popular apps, will meet from 5-8 p.m., Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 and Nov. 2 and 3. Cost for the entire class is $5.

The introduction to word processing (Microsoft Word 2013) class will meet from 9 a.m.-noon, Oct. 22, 23, 29 and 30 and Nov. 5 and 6. The class covers copy, cut and paste; spell check; text formatting to create an attractive document; margins; columns; tabs; business letters; WordArt; labels and tables. Cost of the entire class is $5.
