Houston Woman Makes Bond in Child Abuse Case

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Cora Lynn Watkins, 25, is out on a $12,000 bond. She is charged with felony child abuse and abandonment of a child under six years old.

Watkins delivered her baby in an unknown location one day after work, then left the child in a shed at her mother’s home.

It is legal in Mississippi to leave newborns at a police departments, fire departments or hospitals.

The child now belongs to the state.
