ICC Hosts Artistic Discovery Contest

ITAWAMBA CO., Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) Itawamba Community College will host a reception and awards ceremony for the participants in the Artistic Discovery Contest from 2-3 p.m., Mar. 29, at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center lecture demonstration room at the Fulton Campus.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee will present the awards.

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the United States House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in ICC’s congressional district.

The competition is open to all high school students in the 1st District, and the overall winner’s artwork from the district competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nationwide. The theme for the competition is “Mississippi People, Places and Things.”
