Identity Theft Charges Filed Against Tax Collector Candidate

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss (WCBI) – Charges have been filed against a tax collector candidate for allegedly committing identity theft.

Itawamba investigators arrested Matthew Perry, 30, on Tuesday after an ex-girlfriend filed charges against him. According to Itawamba Times the former girlfriend’s name was Brittni Smith. Investigators say Smith’s credit cards had more than $7,000 worth of charges on them from Perry since 2013.

Perry’s bond was set for $5,000. Perry has been released and being arrested has not disqualified him for running for tax collector.
