Video: Injured Deputies Leave Hospital

Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) – Both Lowndes County deputies that were shot in the line of duty last week have been released from the hospital.

Lt. Larry Swearingen was released from Baptist Golden Triangle on Thursday afternoon.

He was recovering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Lt. Clint Sims was released on Tuesday. He was shot multiple times in the leg.

Last Tuesday the veteran deputies, along with others, went to check on Kent Coscia at his Drake Circle home. Family members contacted law enforcement and asked them to conduct the welfare check.

Investigators say just as the men approached the door Coscia fired several times, hitting the men.

Cosica remains in jail.
