Itawamba County Library Starts off Reading Program with Science, Magic

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The summer reading program has kicked off at Itawamba County Library.

Attendees enjoyed a special guest to jump start the 2014 summer reading program.

Today, it was all about science and magic with “Magic Mr. Nick” who taught the children science principals all while having fun.

Special demonstrations were performed and the kids even got to participate in the tricks.

Organizers say its a great way to attract the young ones into the library.

“First thing is getting them in the library and all the promoters are very good at advocating literacy and telling kids to be sure to consult books for their information needs but as far as that goes, I think they explore some pretty concept principals but they do it in a very fun way,” ICL Manager Jeffrey Martin said.

Each week a different guest will be featured at the library. The program runs through July.
