PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The jury charged with deciding the fate of a woman accused of killing her mother has been sent home. The jurors called it a night after more than 3 hours of deliberations. They will return at 9:00 a.m. Friday (2/21) to continue deliberations into whether they believe Becky Jones intentionally shot and killed her mother Jane Jones, in May 2010. During the trial, the 49 year old took the stand in her own defense, insisting that she didn’t mean to kill her mother.  According to Becky Jones, her mother attacked her when she was reaching for her car keys to leave, a struggle ensued and the gun went off.  Jones could be found guilty of murder, culpable negligent manslaughter or heat-of-passion manslaughter. The jury must be unanimous.
