Kosciusko Woman Injured in Highway 25 Crash

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (MHP Press Release) — A serious motor vehicle accident occurred 9 a.m. today in Winston County on Highway 25 just south of Huntley Road.

A 2009 black Toyota Camry driven by 52-year-old Verlynvette Williams of Kosciusko was traveling north in the right lane of Hwy. 25 and slowed to make a left turn into a crossover. A 1998 blue Peterbuilt log truck driven by 33-year-old Kelvin Parks was also traveling north on Highway 25 attempting to go around the Camry in the left lane. The Camry turned left and went under the trailer of the log truck.

Both vehicles came to rest in the median of Highway 25. The highway was shut down for over an hour in order to air lift Mrs. Williams to UMC for serious injuries sustained in the crash.

Parks was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
