Lafayette Body Investigated as a Homicide

FROM THE LAFAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

On Sunday, March 3, 2013, at approximately 2:15 p.m. a body was discovered in a creek in Lafayette County, Mississippi. The body was recovered by members of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the Lafayette County Coroner. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene to assist in locating possible evidence that would assist in the investigation.

Coroner Rocky Kennedy took the body to Jackson to the State Medical Examiner‘s Office for an autopsy on Monday. The autopsy has been completed and it has been confirmed that the body is 27-year old McKenzie Darrell Frierson of Oxford. Frierson has been missing since January 31, 2013. The cause of death is being held at this time to further assist in the investigation. Frierson’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

There is a $1000 Crime Stopper reward offered at this time, which is expected to increase in the near future, for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
