Video: Lamar County Toy Donation

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) — Some West Alabama residents are making sure needy children have a special Christmas.

The Lamar County Department of Human Resources of Vernon hosted an open house Friday morning to show the more than 752 toys that will be given 92 families for the holidays.

For about three decades DHR has collected donations for “Operation Santa.”

188 children were eligible for the program, because their parents receive food stamps.

DHR says the community makes the toy drive possible, and the organization is happy to make it happen.

DHR is taking applications from parents up to December 23.
