Landlord Accused of Setting Tenants on Fire

BYHALIA, Miss. (AP) – Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson says deputies have arrested a landlord who is accused of setting two of his tenants on fire.

Dickerson tells The Commercial Appeal that 57-year-old James Dozier leased a house near Byhalia to a man and a woman and confronted them with a gun about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Dickerson says Dozier doused the couple with lighter fluid and used a lighter to set them fire. Both were taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, and the woman was critical condition.

Dickerson says deputies arrested Dozier Sunday, and he was being held on two charges of aggravated assault.

It was not immediately clear whether Dozier has an attorney, and the names of the victims were not immediately available.
