Video: Large Cocaine Distribution Bust

During the week of Monday September 16, 2013 through Friday September 20, 2013 agents of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics unit executed three search warrants at key locations in Lowndes County.  The search warrants were part of a continued investigation into cocaine distribution in Lowndes County that started Monday September 16.  On Monday September 16, 2013 Lowndes County Deputies and narcotics Agents were conducting an operation that led to the arrest of Antwon Jordan B/M of Columbus and Latonya Shelton B/F also of Columbus.  The two led Deputies and Agents on a high-speed pursuit through the north side of Columbus.  Sheriff’s Deputies cornered Shelton who was driving the rented Nissan Maxima on 9 Avenue North, where she was taken into custody.  Jordan bailed out of the vehicle during the pursuit and fled on foot.  Narcotic Agents caught Jordan after a short foot chase.  He was charged with resisting arrest and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.  Shelton was charged with felony eluding and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.  Agents seized approximately one ounce of cocaine and over $8,000.00 in cash.  A third black male subject also fled on foot during the chase and agents are expecting his arrest soon.

Later on Monday September 16, 2013 a search warrant was executed at 59 Spann Lane in Lowndes County, at a residence rented by the subjects.  Agents found various items used in the manufacture of crack cocaine, cocaine, spice, and a stolen firearm that was reported stolen in Lowndes County.  Both Jordan and Shelton were charged with possession of a stolen firearm as well as cocaine related offenses.

After further investigation two more search warrants were executed on Friday September 20, 2013.  Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Agents executed a search warrant at the address of 3865 Military Road, the residence of Jordan and Shelton.  A search of this residence resulted in the seizure of more cocaine, marijuana, and over $17,000.00 in cash hidden throughout the residence.  A second search warrant was then executed at the address of 44 Timber Drive where agents seized over $12,000.00 in cash.

This operation led to the seizure of cocaine, marijuana, and over $37,000.00 in cash by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.  This is part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of cocaine in Lowndes County and more seizures and arrests are expected.
