Video: Law Suit Against Tupelo Schools

[bitsontherun AXNSfQlC]TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-A former Tupelo Schools choral director has filed a federal lawsuit against the schools. Calvin Ellis filed the suit Thursday (11-8) on claims of five counts of wrong doing by the Tupelo Public School District including: breaches of contract, interference with his contract, violation of his constitutional rights to due process, and violation of his right to equal protection. Ellis was hired in 2006 as a music teacher and then was fired October 28 of 2011. A month after a student’s mother complained about a prank on her daughters car during a “hair and makeup” night for show choir members supervised by Ellis and his wife. Ellis was placed on leave and then two days after his request to meet the school board was refused he says he was fired.
