Lawnmower Pull Highlights Baldwyn Festival

BALDWYN, Miss. (WCBI) – Not everyone in Northeast Mississippi was watching football on Saturady. Some preferred Baldwyn’s Latimer Park for a lawnmower pull, as part of the annual Okeelala Festival. The participating drivers must attach their specially prepared lawn mowers to this weighted sled which gets heavier the further down the track it goes.
Bobby Bostick was the event manager.

“It’s a miniture version of a large tractor pull, ” he said. “And we’ve been pulling for about I guess 25 years and it’s beginning to get larger and larger every day it seems like. We just pull for the fun of it,” Bostick notes.

The lawnmower pull was just one of the events at this year’s Okeelala festival which also featured live music, arts and crafts and plenty of festival food. It is a great way to bring the people of Baldwyn together.
