Lee County Homeowner Shoots And Kills Suspected Burglar

LEE CO., Miss. (WCBI) – A Lee County homeowner shoots and kills a man she believes is trying to rob her in the middle of the night at a home off of County Road 736.

The homeowners tell WCBI they heard noises in their yard around 3:00am and went to investigate.

According to one of the homeowners, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Gary Sneed, Jr., refused to leave and seemed to reach for an item tucked into his pants.

That when she shot him.

Both homeowners tell WCBI this was the second time in just hours that Sneed and his girlfriend had shown up at their home.

Both owners say they found the couple looking into one of their vehicles Wednesday afternoon and asked them to leave.

A recent attempted break-in prompted the Lee County residents to install security cameras around the property.

Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department are looking at the footage.

The second suspect, Sneed’s girlfriend, is in custody right now.

The deputies have questioned the homeowners.

WCBI’s Allie Martin will take a closer look at the case tonight on WCBI News at 5:00 and 6:00.
