Library Starts ‘Girl Doll’ Rentals

COLUMBUS, Miss- The Youth Services Department of the Columbus- Lowndes Public Library would like to announce our American Girl Dolls Lending Program.

American Doll Kits can be checked out for 14 day periods. Kits include the dolls, that doll’s book, a journal for the child to chronicle their time with the doll, and a sheet telling the child what that doll’s life would’ve been like had they lived in Columbus/Lowndes County during that time.

At this time, the Columbus-Lowndes Library System will be circulating four dolls, two at our main branch, and two at our Caledonia Branch. It is our hope that through further donations, we will be able to extend this lending program to our Crawford and Artesia branches. Dolls include Marie-Grace and Cecile Rey (1858), Julie Albright (1974), and Kit Kitteridge (1934).

The American Girl Doll Kits were made possible by generous donations from Amy Bloodworth, in honor of her late mother, Rhonda Cribbs Junkin. Her mother was a Caledonia resident and staunch library supporter. The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amy for making this program possible.
