Video: Life Sentence Handed Down in Houston Capital Murder Case

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – A life sentence was handed down in Chickasaw County Circuit Court last week after a man pleaded guilty to capital murder.

Mitchell Gregory, 32, of Woodland, pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of William Ray “Shorty” Bevill to avoid facing the death penalty.

An investigation into the case was launched in June 2013 after the crime happened in April of the same year.

Bevill, 75, of Houston, was found in his home with stab wounds when family members came to check on him.

DNA found at the scene did make a direct link to Gregory which led to his arrest.

Gregory was ordered to pay fines totally $1,633.50 in addition to his sentence.
