WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — Clay County, West Point and the region’s economic development agency have struck a new deal.

Under the revised 3-year contract, the city and county each will pay $175,000 a year to help fund the Golden Triangle Development LINK. The LINK also will get 5 percent of any fee-in-lieu tax agreement with new industries.

The new contract doesn’t allow the city and county out of the deal if Joe Higgins, GTR LINK CEO, leaves the link. The previous deal did.

The partnership already has paid off. Yokohama Tire is investing well over $1 billion during the next 10 years in its first American facilities.
