LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Christmas is great time of year for most kids. School is out. Family comes to visit. And, you get presents. But not every child is so fortunate. A local first grader is doing her part to make sure every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning.

Six year old Stella Williamson is definitely in the Christmas spirit. This first grader at Nanih Waiya Elementary is more excited about giving than receiving. While other kids her age are thinking about Santa Making a special visit and all the presents they’ll get, she is thinking about others and how she can help.

Stella says, “It’s more important than me because if they have nothing then that’s not alright with me.”

Stella is part of three generations of giving. Her Nanna inspired her to always think of those less fortunate. Every day WCBI News holds a Midday Toy Give Away, where winners are randomly picked. Her name was selected, but it was the note on the back that took us by surprise. Instead of keeping the toy herself, Stella insisted on giving it to someone else.

Stella says, “I want to give every kid what they need every day. If they don’t have something I want to give them something.”

Stella’s Mom Jessica Williamson says, “Where every we’re at she is trying to pick out a toy or book or anything to give away.”

Generosity is a way of life for Stella. She has helped with money boxes in the classroom, a family adoption through her schools student council, Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree Program.

According to Stella Christmas is a time of shareing, “It just means about giving and caring and mostly about Jesus and God.”

As the holiday draws closer, Stella will be thinking about what she doesn’t need and what of her’s she can hand over to someone a little less fortunate. This 6 year old is what the Christmas season is all about, setting an example for all to follow.

Stella’s gift will be going to Toys for Tots. WCBI was so impressed with her giving spirit, we sent her a gift of her own as well.
