Littlejohn Appeals To Mississippi Supreme Court

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A north Mississippi judge is asking the Mississippi Supreme Court to take a second look at his 30-day suspension and fine ordered for misconduct.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Chancery Judge Talmadge Littlejohn of New Albany filed the motion Wednesday. The court has not ruled on the request.

In June, the Supreme Court ordered Littlejohn suspended without pay for 30 days, publicly reprimanded, fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $1,600 in court costs.

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance alleged Littlejohn ordered someone jailed for non-payment of child support when the case had been appealed. The man was arrested and held for three days in the Lee County jail before he was released.

The commission says the filing of an appeal bond took the case out of Littlejohn’s court.
