Livestock Competition Held in Verona

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Future farmers of Northeast Mississippi got to show their best cattle this weekend at the livestock show in Verona.

The Lee County Ag Center hosted the competition. The next generation of Mississippi farmers had their cattle judged in hopes of qualifying for the upcoming meet in Jackson. Competitor Gentry Gibson of East Union qualified for the contest and says he learned a lot growing up on a farm.

“Well I’ve been working with my dad for several years since I was a little kid. He’s let me drive tractors and trucks and I just like it. I believe I’ll stay as a farmer when I get older,” says Gibson.

Gibson will also take his 14-month old Heifer Ellie to the competition in Jackson.
