COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi may primarily be a Republican state, but local Democrats say they hope to do well in the November General Election.

The Columbus Lowndes Federation of Democratic Women held a forum Thursday night, so residents could meet and greet with some of the state and local candidates.

Selvain McQueen – who’s running for Lowndes County sheriff – was there, along with a representative from Tim Johnson’s office.

Johnson is running for lieutenant governor.

Organizers say they plan to have more forums like this before the November election.
