ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Local National Guard units are expected home before the end of this month. Family members in Aberdeen and West Point say they are more than ready to welcome their service men and women home.

The last time Guard members saw their loved ones, they were gathered with other families a year ago to say goodbye.  Many families particpate in the Family Readiness Group that provides emotional support while Guard members serve.  A celebration for the soldiers’ return is being planned and family members say they are over-joyed that they made it home safely.

Lois Ewing’s son will be home by the end of next week. “I’m so excited, I’m shaking in my shoes. I am so excited. When he told me this morning that they got to the safety zone, it’s a feeling that you just can’t imagine goes over you,” says Lois Ewing.

Yellow ribbons and t-shirts are being sold at Aberdeen City Hall to help support the troops.
