Long Time Oxford Newspaper Staple Retiring

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Stephanie Rebman has been named editor of The Oxford Eagle.

Rebman’s hiring was announced in Monday’s edition by publisher Tim Phillips.

Rebman succeeds Don Whitten, who is retiring after 38 years with the newspaper and 10 years as editor.

Rebman previously worked for nine years at the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo.

The 34-year-old Rebman graduated from Birmingham-Southern College and has worked in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

She started out of college with the Alexander City Outlook and Dadeville Record, two Boone newspapers, as staff writer and news editor. She moved on to serve as weeklies editor with the Carrollton Times-Georgian before joining the staff in Tupelo as a copy editor and then night editor.
