Longtime Attala County Political Figure Passes Away

KOSCIUSKO, MS (WCBI) –   The former sheriff and current Kosciusko Alderman Pop Lawrence has passed away.  Lawrence died this morning.

Following word of his death Kosciusko Mayor Jimmy Cockcroft remembered Lawrence with the following statement

“It is with much sadness and regret that we inform you that City of Kosciusko Alderman Marvin “Pop” Lawrence passed away this morning. Mr. Lawrence has served honorably as the Ward One Alderman since March 2010. He was elected to fulfill the unexpired term of his late wife, Martha Kate Lawrence and was re-elected to a full term in July 2013. Alderman Lawrence will be greatly missed, and we ask that the community be in prayer for his family.”
