LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A Louisville student is headed to France for a fellowship all thanks to his grandmother.

Reggie Patterson is one of three students from around the world selected for a year-long writing fellowship at the Branly Museum in the heart of Paris’ museum district. The fellowship begins October 1st.

The accomplished violinist is the son of Elmetra Patterson and Eddie Littleton of Louisville. But it was his grandmother, Betsy Eichelberger, who encouraged him to pursue his original dreams of attending the Oberlin Conservatory and Duke University.

He will receive his doctorate in Romance Studies from Duke next May.
