Lowndes County And Columbus Arrests

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) – On Tuesday June 30, 2015 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the address of 4180 Highway 373 Lot 92. A search of the home yielded several ounces of synthetic cannabinoid better known as spice and a firearm.
Marquez O. Baker, 24 , of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

– On Wednesday July 1, 2015 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics unit and The Lowndes County Warrants Division executed a search warrant at the address of 102 South Browder Street Apartment 72. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of several ounces of marijuana, a firearm, a bullet proof vest, and approximately $2,000 in cash.
Vincent Harris Jr, 28, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Shakela Edwards, 24, of Columbus was not home at the time of the search, but turned herself in to Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday July 8. She was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a weapon.

– On Wednesday July 1, 2015 Deputy Marshals with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Devin K. Hughes. Hughes was one of several subjects that were still wanted by the Lowndes County Narcotics Unit on charges of sale of controlled substances. Devin K. Hughs, 35, of Columbus was arrested by Warrant Division Deputies and charged with three counts of sale of a controlled substance to include pills and cocaine.
On Tuesday July 7, 2015 Deputy Marshals with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Mario Grisom. Grisom was stopped on a traffic stop at the intersection of Beech Street and Highway 182 in Columbus where he was arrested for one count of sex trafficking of a child and one count of attempted sex trafficking of child. The warrants were federal indictments from Pennsylvania. Grisom was transported to Aberdeen where he will remain in federal custody until transported back to Pennsylvania.
On Tuesday July 7, 2015 Deputy Marshals with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force went to the address of 1100 Ash Street where they arrested Cheyenne Smith, 42, of Columbus for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Smith was transported to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Detention Center where he is awaiting bond.

On Friday, July 3, 2015, Columbus Police Officers made a traffic stop on Washington Avenue for traffic violations. During the traffic stop, suspected methamphetamine was found.

On Friday, July 3, 2015, a Columbus Police Officer made traffic stop at Tuscaloosa and Hwy 82 Bypass for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, suspected cocaine was found.
