Lowndes County Courthouse Beefing Up Security

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Courthouse is getting new security measures.

A keypad security card system has been installed at the buildings north entrance to be used only by employees. The handicapped also can use the entrance but will have to be let in by security guards through an intercom system. The public will only be able to enter through the south entrance off Second Avenue North. The system, along with a full-time armed security guard, have been added because of growing concerns over shootings at schools and other public buildings across the country.
