LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A dog attack leaves several chickens missing and one severely injured.

Lowndes County Animal Control was dispatched to 27 East Cherry St. in eastern Lowndes County for a dog attack on some chickens just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. White feathers were scattered across the ground and chicken coupe area where the apparent attack took place. When authorities arrived, the dog was nowhere to be found.

Resident Gwendolyn Gray was able to get a photo of the dog that looks to be a brown and tan possibly Pitt Bull mix. An animal control report was made but for Gray, the sights were scary to watch.

“I came out and you could just see feathers all over. He was in the coupe and just chasing the chickens, the more they ran the more he ran after them. He would go one by one and grab them until they wouldn’t move,” Gray said.

No word if the animal has been captured. If you see this dog you are asked contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.
