Lowndes County Drug Arrests

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Departments Newly Formed Criminal Apprehension Team Along With the Uniform Patrol Division Recently Made Several Arrests:

Team Officers Conducted A Traffic Stop Near Columbus Air Force Base On April 4, 2016. The Traffic Stop Led To The Arrest Of Christopher Lee Guyton, 32, Of Columbus. Mr. Guyton Was Charged With Possession of Cocaine and Was Transported To the Lowndes County Detention Center

On 4/6/16 Officers Conducted A Traffic Stop On Hwy 82 Near The Lee Stokes Road Exit. The Stop Resulted In The Seizure Of Marijuana As Well As Methamphetamine And Paraphernalia That The Passenger, Ms. Brittany Moore, 19, Had Hidden On Her Person. Ms. Moore Was Transported To The Lowndes County Detention Center.

4/7/16 Team Members Made Contact With Several Individuals On Dallas Drive Where Officers Could Plainly Smell Marijuana. Investigation Revealed That One Of The Individuals Was Found To Have Marijuana And Ecstasy In His Possession. Mr. Bobby Woodrick, 23, Of Columbus Was Arrested and Charged With Possession Of Marijuana And Possession Of MDMA Ecstasy. Mr. Woodrick Was Transported To The Lowndes County Detention Center.

Also On 4/7/16 Deputies Answered A Call At 3233 New Hope Road. Upon Arrival At The Address Officers Made Contact With A Mr. Cager Bell. Officers Learned That Mr. Bell Was Wanted On A Parole Violation And A Warrant Was Issued For His Arrest. Deputies Attempted To Arrest Mr. Bell and Mr. Bell Resisted Arrest and Ran from Deputies and Made Entrance to the Address Above. Mr. Bell Continued To Resist And Was Tased And Placed Into Custody By Deputes. While In The Residence Officers Found Methamphetamine Sitting In Plain View Of The Officers. Mr. Bell Of Senatobia Was Arrested And Charged With Parole Violation, Resisting Arrest And Possession Of Methamphetamine.

Friday 4/8/16 Officers Assigned To The Apprehension Team Were Patrolling The Southern Part Of Lowndes County In The Crawford Ms. Area. Officers Noticed Several Vehicles Parked In The Roadway And Impeding Traffic On Harvey Gray Road. Officers Went To A Residence At 220 Harvey Gray Road In An Effort To Make Contact With Owners Of Vehicles. Deputies Knocked And Two Individuals Answered The Door. Deputies Could Immediately Smell Marijuana Coming From Inside The Residence And Upon Entering The Residence Could See Marijuana Sitting In The Residence. Deputies Contacted Lowndes County Narcotics Agents, Who Later Arrived On Scene With A Search Warrant. Deputies Located And Seized Over An Ounce Of Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, And Paraphernalia That Was Used To Manufacture Cocaine Into Crack Cocaine.

Mr. Dervin Gray, 36, Of Crawford Ms. And Mr. Arthur Tate, 52, Of Starkville, Ms. Were Arrested And Charged With Possession Of Cocaine. Mr. Henry Mayfield, 22, Of Columbus Was Arrested And Charged With Possession Of Marijuana And Possession Of Xanax.

Again On Friday 4/8/16 Officers With The Apprehension Team Were Patrolling The Crawford, Ms. Area And While Doing So Made Contact With An Individual At Club Exotic In Crawford. This Individual Was Found To Have In His Possession More Than An Ounce Of Marijuana. In Regards To This Investigation Mr. Kirby Sherman Was Arrested And Charged With Possession Of Marijuana More Than An Ounce. Also Arrested During This Investigation Was Mr. Jamal Halbert, 23 of Crawford, Ms. (Possession of Marijuana) and Mr. Derrick Bell, 35 of Starkville, Ms. (Disorderly Conduct)
