Lowndes County Narcotics Unit Make Several Drug Busts This Week

LOWNDES CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – On Tuesday April 19, 2016 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Mississippi Highway Patrol Conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 82 near the Highway 45 South intersection.

After a brief investigation a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department K-9 alerted on the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cocaine.

Marvelous S. Houston, 39, of Starkville was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.

Houston was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will remain until bond is made.

On Tuesday April 19, 2016 Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle on Highway 373 near the intersection of Highway 50.

After a brief investigation a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine, marijuana, Xanax pills, and U.S. currency.

Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were notified and took over the investigation.

April M. Hendricks, 43, of Columbus was arrested and charged with traffic charges, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance (Xanax).

Hendricks was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where she will remain until bond is made.

On Thursday April 21, 2016 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the address of 55 McDill Drive in Caledonia.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of numerous marijuana plants that were planted in a heated indoor grow container.

Agents seized the marijuana plants and the equipment used to cultivate the plants.

David A. Lawton, 50, of Caledonia was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana.

Lawton was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he will remain until a bond is set.
