LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -A case of mistaken identity could have led to a family shooting in Lowndes County.

Lowndes County Chief Deputy Marc Miley tells WCBI the shooting happened on Harrison Road about 1030 PM on Tuesday.

A grandmother and grandson were home alone.

Miley says the daughter of the woman came home early from work.

The daughter knocked on the front door but possibly did not respond when the people inside the house asked who was there.

Miley says that’s when the grandmother instructed her 22 year-old grandson to shoot.

The bullet went through the door and grazed the victim’s arm.

She has been released from the hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time and no names are being released.
