LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency along with multiple Lowndes County emergency and safety agencies held a meeting Tuesday to discuss the full scale emergency exercise to be held at the MUW campus on September third.

MEMA has partnered with MUW to host this exercise in order to give nursing students a first hand encounter with a real world crisis.

Lowndes County EMA Director Cindy Lawrence says that the goals of this scenario is to see how well the respondents react to the situation and how well everyone communicates with one another during tragedy.

“Having this meeting helps us to communicate with each other and each agency to understand our objectives and what we plan to accomplish from this exercise in case there’s a real world incident here in Lowndes County.”

This scenario is designed to be a learning environment for students to implement emergency response plans, policies and procedures.
