LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — It’ll be next week at least before Lowndes County voters know details of a proposed school bond issue.

But voters also may get more time to review the issue before casting their ballots.

The board originally set a February 3 referendum on a second proposed building plan. Board members had hoped to finalize details of the issue last week but put off a decision so all board members could take part in the discussion.

That’s expected to happen January 9 when they’ll decide between bond proposals ranging from $39 to $47 million. The money would build new schools and a voc ed center, renovate other schools and provide computers for every student.

Board members also may decide to postpone the February 3 referendum date.

A similar bond issue narrowly failed in August.
