TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Association of Educators has endorsed the Democratic challenger in the race for the First district congressional seat.

Oxford attorney Brad Morris has been endorsed by the MAE.  Morris made that announcement during a news conference at his Tupelo headquarters.

Morris is challenging Republican incumbent Alan Nunnelee for the First District seat.

He says he would push for more funding for public education if elected.

We’ve gone through a period of devastating cuts to education here in Mississippi that’s forced thousands of teachers to lose jobs it has forced local property taxes to go up because folks in Jackson and Washington have not supported education the way they should , I believe it’s time to put teachers back in the classroom, and to invest in kids ability to go to college and get the workforce training they need so we can compete in this world economy,” Morris said.

Morris was joined by local educators and members of the MAE.  Also on hand was his fourth grade teacher.
