STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Filmmakers from around the world are focusing on Starkville this week.

The curtain opens Thursday (2-21) night, at 7:30, for the 16th annual Magnolia Independent Film Festival.

The event runs through Saturday (2-23) at Hollywood Premier Cinemas.

15 films made the cut this year.

They range in length from 3 minutes to an hour and a half.

Submissions come from as far away as Australia, and plenty of entries are from right here in Mississippi.

Laura Dixon is the Magnolia Film Festival Director. She says, “I’ve been very excited about the submissions that we go. Some great quality films, so I think there are some gems on every night.”

The Starkville Arts Council is presenting this year’s event.
