Major Road Improvement Planned In New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – A trouble spot for New Albany motorists will soon be repaired.

An old bridge on Oxford Road is sinking and has been deemed unsafe for heavy vehicles, such as ambulances and school buses.

That route is one of three ways motorists can get to the new emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Aldermen should know at their April 21st meeting how much it will cost to replace the substandard bridge.

The contractor has told the city if crews are able to remove the current bridge deck he could build a new bridge, which would amount to a substantial savings.
