Man Accused of Smuggling Drugs Into Jail
PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A 48-hour stay in jail could end up being a lot longer for a Baldwyn man.
Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar says 29-year-old Artavius Richey is charged with two counts of trying to smuggle drugs and other contraband into the county jail.
Tolar says Richey showed up Friday to serve a 48-hour weekend jail sentence. But as he was being booked in, jailers discovered the drugs he’d tried to hide on his body.
His bond is set at $7,500 and the corrections department has put a hold on his release.
