Man Charged in Fatal Collision

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi man has posted bond after charges are filed in the fatal accident case of Eddie Smith.

According to Winston County Sheriff Jason Pugh, a preliminary investigation shows 29 year old Drew Gordon was under the influence when his car hit head on with another car Tuesday on Brooksville Road. Gordon turned himself in Friday to authorities and was charged with aggravated DUI. His 2005 Nissan Altima collided with the Ford Taurus of Eddie Smith, who was only 300 yards from his home at the time of the accident. Smith was rushed to Winston County Medical where he died of his injuries.

If convicted of the charges Gordon is facing five to 25 years in prison. The case remains under investigation.
