Man Charged With Sexually Abusing 8 Year-Old

CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Montpelier man is accused of sexually abusing an eight year-old girl in Calhoun County.

William Matthew Fowler, 29, is charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of touching a child for lustful purposes.

Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan says a tip came into the Department of Human Resources state hotline last week.

Pollan says the alleged crime happened about eight weeks ago at a home on Highway 341, north of Vardaman, where Fowler was living at the time.

Fowler had since moved back to Clay County.

Clay County deputies assisted Calhoun County investigators in searching for Fowler.

He was given a $1 million bond.
