Man Dies in Prentiss County Fire

By The Associated Press

BOONEVILLE — Authorities are awaiting a positive identification to be made before releasing the name of a person who died in a fire on Sunday.

Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar tells the Daily Corinthian that the identification will try to be made through DNA testing.

Tolar says the fire occurred in a small camper where the person apparently lived by himself.

Tolar says the fire had already gutted the camper and the fire had burned itself out when the first fire unit arrived at the scene located at the end of a dead end road, some 50 to 75 feet from another residence.

Tolar says there was no electricity to the camper.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
