UPDATE: Manhunt In Tishomingo County Ends

TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A manhunt has ended for a suspect Tishomingo County officials called armed and dangerous.

28-year-old George Downs was apprehended around 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, on Eastport Street in Burnsville.

Downs is accused of the armed robbery and assault of an elderly woman in the Cummings community around 3:30 a.m., Tuesday.

After the alleged assault, Downs led Alcorn County deputies on a high-speed chase east on U.S. 72 before stopping in Tishomingo County.

Downs then ditched the vehicle in southwest Burnsville.

Officials searched the woods in the nearby area late into Tuesday night.

Two other suspects – a man and a woman – were also arrested.

Burnsville police and the Mississippi Highway Patrol assisted in the search.
