STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Visually impaired people and those with disabilities are learning more about the resources available to them.

A “Meet the Blind” event was held on Tuesday morning at the Starkville Sportsplex Annex.

At least 15 organizations were there with information.

“This is a time that we come together in our community to educate, inform, and empower people that are either losing their vision or have already lost it. This is our time to let our public know what we are trying to do. We are trying to be as independent as possible and to lead a full life,” said National Federation of the Blind Golden Triangle chapter President Beverly Hammett.

The National Federation of the Blind, along with the Starkville Lion’s Club hosted the event.
