MEMA Reports Monday Storm Damage

PEARL, Miss. (Press Release) — The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received preliminary reports of damage from nine counties from severe weather that began moving through the state Monday. Damage assessments are ongoing by county emergency managers.

Initial damage reports by county are as follows:

  • Alcorn: Trees and power lines down.
  • Amite: A few homes and businesses with minor damage. Numerous trees and power lines down near Liberty.
  • Clarke: Damage to a home.
  • Grenada: Damage to a home. A few roads were closed due to flooding.
  • Lowndes: Several roads were closed due to flooding.
  • Tate: One home destroyed, one home with major damage and one home with minor damage.
  • Tishomingo: Two homes and one business with minor damage.
  • Union: Five homes with minor damage. One injury.
  • Webster: Several roads were closed due to flooding.

Additional damage assessments are underway. MEMA will continue to provide additional reports as information becomes available. The National Weather Service will investigate and confirm reports of any tornadoes.
