MEMA Statewide Damage Report

PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received reports of damage from 14 counties as a result of severe weather moving through the state.

The counties reporting damages are as follows:

Calhoun: Trees and power lines down.

Chickasaw: Trees and power lines down.

Clay: Trees down throughout the county.

Grenada: At least one home damaged. Trees and power lines down.

Hinds: Large hail reported.

Itawamba: At least one home damaged and one road closed.

Lee: Trees down throughout the county.

Lowndes: Trees and power lines down.

Monroe: Trees down throughout the county.

Rankin: Large hail reported.

Tallahatchie: A few homes damaged.

Tishomingo: Trees down.

Union: Several homes and buildings damaged. Trees down throughout the county.

Warren: At least one home damaged. Tress down.

Updates of reported damages will be released as they become available.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for several Mississippi counties until 9 p.m. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service calls for the chance of severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes to continue into the evening.

Residents should monitor local media for local weather warnings or use a battery-operated NOAA weather radio to receive severe weather information.
