Memphis Officer Killed

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — An off-duty police officer died Sunday after being shot multiple times. Authorities said 31-year old Terence Olridge is the fourth Memphis police officer to be fatally shot in more than four years. Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said Olridge was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis on Sunday where he later died. The incident happened just before 1 p.m. in the 2600 block of Longshadow Lane.

“At 12:52 today our officers responded to a shooting at X Long Shadow Lane. After arriving on the scene we found that we had an off duty officer involved in a shooting. That officer was shot multiple times, transported here to the med and now has expired. As a result of the injuries that he has sustained. We can now identify that officer as Terence Olriege. He has been with the city since September 22 of 2014. The details are now very very sketchy. The details are ongoing. We do have one suspect in custody. Again the details are very very sketchy as we learn details I’ll make sure the details are transferred to you. He has a fiancé that is four months pregnant. I want to respect their privacy. Where I’m standing now saying something very very similar to what I’m saying here. It just doesn’t get any easier,” says Armstrong.
