Minor Injuries In Three Vehicle Crash In Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) – MHP responded to a three car MVA on US 45 Alt. In Clay County around 11:58 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of Tibbee Road.

A Gold 2002 Mercury Grand Marque was traveling north on US 45 Alt. A white 2012 Chevrolet E1500 van was traveling east through the crossover and entered the northbound traffic at which time the Mercury collided into the right rear of the Chevrolet van, causing the van to spin and then collide into the front of a blue 1998 Honda Odyssey that was sitting still at the stop sign on Tibbee Road.

The driver of the  Mercury, 27 year old Keyante Summerville of Columbus and his passenger, 24 year old Jeremy Winston, of Columbus were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with complaints of pain. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts.

The driver of the Chevrolet E1500, 33 year old Cory Flurry, of Shannon, MS was uninjured. Mr. Flurry was wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey, 21 year old Rachel Lee, of Stone Mountain, GA was uninjured. Ms. Lee had five passengers in her vehicle all of which were uninjured. Ms. Lee and her passengers were all wearing their seatbelts.

The accident remains under investigation by MHP.
