OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A statewide effort to promote racial reconciliation, prayer and spiritual growth reaches North Mississippi.

The Glowing in Christ campaign set out a month ago to carry a cross through the state’s 82 counties.

The project is a joint effort among Mission Mississippi and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Friday, the cross made its way from Attala to Choctaw County and then Saturday from Choctaw to Oktibbeha. On Sunday morning, Mississippi State athletes and others handed the cross off to students from Winston Academy who carried it to Louisville where Louisville students took over.

The cross returns to North Mississippi later this month when it comes to Kemper, Noxubee and Lowndes counties headed north.

The project ends October 27 in Clinton on the 20th anniversary of the racial reconciliation group, Mission Mississippi.
